Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of GoldList (thegoldlist.ca), operated by Helperama Inc. ("GoldList," "we," "us"). By using the site, submitting an application, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms.

1. What GoldList Is

GoldList is a directory and matching service that connects people looking for home and personal services ("Seekers") with independent local professionals ("Professionals" or "Members") who have applied for and been approved to list on the platform.

GoldList is not an employer, agent, or partner of any Professional. Professionals listed on GoldList are independent businesses or individuals, not employees or contractors of GoldList.

2. Our Vetting Process — and Its Limits

Before approving any Professional, we review their application and request supporting documentation appropriate to their category (which may include insurance, licensing, or WSIB coverage where applicable). We do this because we genuinely want to keep low-quality or bad-faith applicants off the platform.

That said, this review is not a guarantee. We do not independently verify every credential submitted, we do not supervise or inspect any Professional's work, and we cannot promise the outcome of any job. GoldList is not liable for the quality, safety, legality, timeliness, or outcome of any work performed by a Professional found through the platform, nor for any dispute, damage, loss, or injury arising from that work. Any agreement for services is strictly between the Seeker and the Professional.

If something goes wrong with a Professional's conduct or work, please report it to us at hello@thegoldlist.ca — we take reports seriously and may remove Professionals from the platform — but we are not a party to, and accept no liability for, the underlying service transaction.

3. Membership, Billing & Founding Pricing

Professional membership plans are billed monthly (or annually, where offered) on a recurring basis via our payment processor, Stripe.
Founding Hero pricing, where locked in at the time of approval, is honoured for the lifetime of that continuous membership and does not increase, provided the subscription remains active without a lapse in billing.
Free trials, where offered, convert automatically to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless cancelled beforehand.
You may cancel your membership at any time from your account dashboard or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.

4. Refund Policy

Membership fees are generally non-refundable once a billing period has begun, including partial months.
If you believe you were charged in error (e.g., a duplicate charge or a billing bug), contact hello@thegoldlist.ca within 14 days and we'll review it in good faith.
We reserve the right to issue discretionary refunds on a case-by-case basis; this does not obligate us to do so in other cases.

5. Account Suspension & Removal

We may suspend or remove any Professional's listing, with or without notice, for reasons including but not limited to: misrepresentation on an application, expired or invalid required documentation, credible reports of misconduct, non-payment, or violation of these Terms. We may also ban an individual or business from reapplying.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: submit false or misleading information in an application; use the platform to harass, defraud, or discriminate against any person; scrape or bulk-extract data from the site; or attempt to circumvent our approval or payment systems.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GoldList and Helperama Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, or from any interaction, transaction, or dispute with a Professional or Seeker. Our total liability for any claim relating to the platform is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 3 months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of GoldList after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
